Students can improve reading fluency and confidence by memorizing high-frequency (sight) words that they encounter often in text. By learning to recognize these words quickly, less time and energy is spent trying to decode words when reading. This has a positive impact on reading speed and comprehension of what is being read.
Choose from the leveled lists to find the one that is most appropriate for your child's current ability level. Words are flashed in a PowerPoint slide show at 2 second intervals. Be sure to teach the unknown words to your child so that he/she can improve after each practice session. The goal is for your child to memorize all the words on one list before progressing to the next. Daily practice of these words will help to strengthen your child's reading skills.
